What is BookToilet?

BookToilet helps Berlin become more visitor-friendly by connecting people who need a restroom with small local businesses that choose to help — in exchange for a small fee. Visitors discover participating places on a map, walk in, and complete payment at the restroom door. The fee is shared with the shop.

How it works

For shops (partners)

  • Your shop appears on the map as a participating location
  • We provide a QR code placed at or near the restroom door
  • Visitors scan and pay online on the spot
  • Access stays informal and respectful — no extra steps required.
  • Monthly payout

For visitors

  • Check the map to find a nearby participating shop
  • Walk in and ask if needed
  • Scan the QR code at the restroom door
  • Pay online and use the restroom

Simple flow: map → walk in → scan at the WC → done.

Why small local businesses join

  • Extra income from people passing by
  • Works even if your restroom is usually staff-only
  • Some visitors also become customers
  • Clear process, fewer awkward conversations
  • No new hardware and minimal setup
  • You control availability (busy hours, max visits, pause anytime)
  • You help make Berlin friendlier for everyone — while supporting local business
